ALL-OHIO HIGH SCHOOL HOOP SHOWCASE
SATURDAY DECEMBER 3RD
PLAYED AT GAHANNA LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL & WHITEHALL HIGH SCHOOL
Jerry Watson's Super Sixteen High School Team Rankings (Central Ohio) February 16, 2016
The Regular season is officially over in Central Ohio. I found myself Friday night at a sold-out Gahanna Lincoln versus Pickerington Central at Gahanna Lincoln. The game took a serious delay in action when 6-8 Pickerington Central Junior Sterling Manley went down in the first-half with a Major Knee Injury. He had just been offered a Scholarship by (Huggie Bear) from West Virginia and was off to a good start Friday night with a put back basket and twelve footer. With the Manley going down, you would think Gahanna Lincoln would have a slight advantage. Not the case. The trio of Ibi Watson - Jalen Tate and Freshman Jeremiah Francis made several big shots and Prime-Time plays in leading a victorious Pickerington Central to a big road win. They also did great defensive job on Nick Ward Ohio's Premier Big Man. Another game I didn't get to attend was Upper Arlington versus Dublin Coffman. Coffman won the game. Senior Spark Plug guard Seth Fuller put on Broadway Show with 31pts in giving Upper Arlington their first lost locally. The City League Championship Game put Walnut Ridge versus Northland. The gym was packed to Capacity. Northland stormed out to a big lead on Ridge. Then Malik Harrison a Monster of a Competitor put Ridge back in the game. Malik Harrison and Seth " Do it All " Towns went toe to toe down the Stretch guarding each other. With the game tied Harrison drove the length of the court and was fouled by Seth Towns. Harrison makes one of two. Northland wins 46-45. Seth Towns scored 78% of Northland's points in front of former Northland players Trey Burke (Utah Jazz) and Jared Sullinger (Boston Celtics) in the House.

2016 All-Ohio & Hoopsters Showcase Recap
by Jerry Watson
The first Annual Midwest College Showcase Tournament held in Columbus OH this past weekend was full of excitement. This will be a must event for College Coaches in the future. Wright State was the first College to enter the house on Friday night. Walsh University was getting plenty of players recruiting notes. Ohio Dominican had to be there and showed up. The biggest College catch was on Sunday when Ohio State Assistant Greg Paulus stepped through the door and seen some spectacular stuff from the freshman and sophomores in State.
Corey Albertson (tripledoubleprospects) and Chris Johnson (hoop scoop) gave it major scouting credibility. They had a chance to see some major match-ups take place during the three day event.
The 8th grade Championship went to All-Ohio Black. Naki Smith 6-4 from Cincinnati Schroeder Junior High School came away with the big dawg MVP award with his stellar play. C.J. Anthony has to be the best 8th grade guard in Columbus right now. This kid is physically built with a three ball plus he can get to the cup and finish with contact. Josiah Fulcher for All-Ohio Black was smooth as silk with his game. His skill set and arsenal has a three ball that can be wicked at times. Plus he's getting his Basketball Knowledge injections from former All-Ohio great Greg Simpson. Zeb Jackson from All-Ohio Red can do it all. He's a crafty point with range and handles. He will be a priority for high school coaches in Toledo to land.
The 9th grade Championship went to All-Ohio Red. I wished some of my older teams played with the all out tenacity that this team brings to the court. The backcourt of Marco "the pest" Bradley and Jeremiah " buckets " Keene are truly a delight to watch. Keene continues to pass the litmus test as one of the rising guards nationally. Bradley has to be one of the best two way guards in the state with his sneaky three ball and hawking defense. Taylor Currie continues show why he's the state's best power forward. His inside game is a beauty to watch. Then he will stick you in the face with a wing jumper. Tanner Holden is a reliable 6-5 lefty with slashing moves and a shooting touch. For the runner-up Ohio Hoopsters Cade Stover (Lexington) was the man-child at 6-5 doing work from the inside and outside. We also heard he's a big-time football player. Terin Kinsway is 6-4 very competitive combo forward who powers you to the rack. His brute strength is edge right now.
Ohio Hoopsters-Nova (Tillman) won the 10th grade Championship over Ohio Hoopters-Nova (Rice). Caleb McConnell was the MVP and the Hoopsters best player. He may be a bankrupt version of Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson. McConnell is a finesse wing forward with nice range on his shot and smooth moves to go with it. Had a tendency to fade in and out when the game gets physical. He is a fighter so strength and maturity will cure that problem. Garrett Tipton is a athletic 6-3 wing forward who was hitting his shots. Elijah McNamara for Ohio Hoopsters-Nova (Rice) is a 6-8 stretch four man who can knock down shots from the outside. Is also getting a little better down low on the block. Jonathan Alessandro 6-6 for All-Ohio Red (Stewart) was probably the best player overall. He scores rebounds and handles the ball real solid and had his way with most teams in this divisions. His name has to be mentioned as a legitimate college prospect among Ohio's wing forwards. Another player that must be mentioned is Antwon Hampton for the Ohio Hoopsters. Hampton is a 6-1 combo guard that can score.
The 11th grade Champion was VCC- NOVA Brown. They Beat All-Ohio White in a game that had controversy with 2.5 seconds left. The ref called a bucket good to send the game into overtime. Shawn Brown VCC coach claimed that the clock didn't start right away. The bucket ended up being good and the game went into overtime. VCC- NOVA won 83-82. Luke Hippler from VCC-NOVA was the game MVP. Hippler plays hard at both ends of the floor. He will definitely play College ball at some level. Logan Jessing was the MVP for All-Ohio White.

2016 NIKE CUP RE-CAP BY JERRY WATSON
All-Ohio Nike Cup is one of the early season competition tournaments For the State of Ohio in April. This year’s tournament featured teams from seven different states.
The All-Ohio Red 3rd and All-Ohio Black 3rd played each other for the Championship with Jordan Fisher getting the MVP. Jason Singleton a second grader made the All-Star team along with Diante James a nice little baller for sure. Also Chris Cooper caught my eye from All-Ohio Black.
All-Ohio Red beat the CYEC Monarchs for the 4th grade Championship. Keion Ford was flat out balling and walked away with the Game MVP. Other ballers on that team that balled out were Dae Yan Thompson Green - Brandon Roddy and Logan Thrapp.
All-Ohio Red 5th one of the State's top young teams coached by former All-Ohio Red great Andrew Lavender beat a scrappy and well Coached COBA team for the Championship. Dylan Scott was a well deserving MVP. Alex Styles is a beast of a 5th grader and the State of Ohio must keep a close eye on his future progress. Joseph Boddie is also a slick little hooper for AOR and Bebe Lori is the best young prospect of his age in Eastern Ohio. Remember these names from the COBA team. Luks Ruth and Michael Malagreca compete really hard and don't back down against the best.
With All-Ohio Red the State's Number One 6th grade team playing up in the 7th grade division. It left the door open for All-Ohio Northeast who won the Championship over a real pesky COBA team. Tre Martin of All-Ohio Northeast played up to his MVP selection. Daniel Young was also a solid performer in a very tight championship contest. Also keep a close eye on Deon Horn and Jordan Huff for All-Ohio Northeast. Ben Cobbler and Aiden Parsons were the main attractions for the COBA team.
All-Ohio Red 2021 won a very exciting game over All-Ohio Northeast. This game clearly represented the future of youth basketball in Ohio. Brent Walker a 6-5 7th grader out of Dayton is a major young talent. Will Sizer is a big physical kid for All-Ohio Red 2021. Quincy Clark also caught my eye for All-Ohio Red. Jaden Hameed is a hooper for sure. Noah Peoples is also a top-notch 7th grader in State.
George Hill Rising Stars won the 8th grade division over All-Ohio Red 2020 after losing to them in pool play. This George Hill team had some kids who will probably play high school varsity as freshman. Kolton Samford did some major work and won the MVP award. Jamari London has the most upside and can manufacture buckets in many ways. Rick Weldon the son of a coach was well schooled on the hardwood and had his way with All-Ohio 2020.
All-Ohio Red 15U won their second straight Championship. After winning the NY2LA last weekend in Milwaukee. The victim this time was the Pittsburgh Storm. Jeremiah Keene can score the ball. Taylor Currie at 6-8 is drawing lots of College attention. Chris'sean " Grown Man" Stinger continues to be quite beasty on the court. Keshawn Heard is a 6-6 sleeper for All-Ohio Red who is getting better by the minute. Samari Curtis is definitely qualified to be called instant offense for AOR. Tanner Holden is a 6-5 lefty with range. The Pittsburgh Storm's Bryce Radford is one to keep a close eye on.
All-Ohio Red 16U beat the Oakland Elite in pool play and in the Championship game. What made both of these victories worth talking about is Oakland Elite lost to King James by four in the Reach Tournament in Michigan the week before. All-Ohio Red has Several Prime time performers that start with Dane Goodwin who can shoot the lights out of the ball. Vince Williams is very athletic and acrobatic in the air which enables him to operate in a traffic jam. Foster Loyer is a feisty point guard who understands how and when to light up the scoreboard or hand out a slick assist. Ross Ryan at 6-8 is long and active. Braden Norris is also better than advertised. Mark my word on this one. DeShawn Parker is on the rise and may be better than you know who in the Dayton Area. Oakland Elite had some nice prospects in Hunter Schattler, Damondo Anderson, Keith Johnson and Brandon Green. Look for Oakland Elite to win some key games on the circuit this Spring-Summer.
All-Ohio Red 17U won it's second straight Championship to stay undefeated. They beat All-Ohio Black to win the crown. Dalonte Brown gets it done all over the court. His College stock is rising by the second. We all know that Kaleb " the big ticket" Wesson can be a problem either facing up or passing out of the post. BJ Duling is a long wing forward that can be hard to deal with at times. Torrey Patton has looked very promising with his assortment of how he scores baskets. David "lock you down" Collins is a great roster addition also. Logan Hill can jump to the moon with his hops. And Nelly Cummings has some John Bagley in his game. CJ Prater balled all weekend for All-Ohio Black. Brett Lauf is the closest thing Ohio has had to John Stockton. This kid has some tricks in his bag. Amir Foster continues to get better every time out. Stay tuned as All-Ohio Basketball takes the show to Brooklyn this weekend for the EYBL

The only exceptions to the federation rules are we are allowing six fouls before a player is eliminated and each team has two timeouts per half. In the 8-and-under through 13-and-under age divisions, there will be two (2) 20-minute halves with the clock stopping the last 2 minutes of each half.
The top 2 teams from each pool will advance to play for the championship. Trophies will be given to the first and second place teams in each age group. There will be individual awards for each member of the first and second place teams in each age group. The outstanding player in each group will receive an MVP award. There will also be an All-Tournament team for each age group.
Enclosed you will find a listing of past tourney participants, motel/lodging information, tournament flyer information, and the Team Roster form so scouting services will know who your players are.
We look forward to seeing your team participate in this great event.

All-Ohio Nike - JUNIOR REPORT
by Jerry Watson
The Junior class in the State of Ohio isn't great by any standards from top to bottom. But it does warrant some attention from major College Coaches. The class also has a few sleepers who could emerge during July.
The headliner in the class is 6-2 Markell Johnson from Cleveland East Tech. I understand he's going to prep school next year. If he wasn't he'd be the front-runner for Mr. Basketball in Ohio. He also got his King James Team into the Nike Peach Jam. He is a very Athletic guard who will tomahawk dunk in major traffic. Outside shot isn't great. But you must respect it. He is tough to handle going downhill. Most big Colleges have a keen eye this kid. Committed to NC State.
Kaleb " The big Ticket " Wesson is the best all round big kid in state. He can pass out of the post. Has soft hands and range out to three point land. Must become a better rebounder and block more shots on the defensive end of the court. If he ever gets in tip-top shape he can make some money after his College playing day. With his Westerville South High School team winning the D1 State Championship. He goes into his senior year Ohio's front-runner for Mr. Basketball.
Kyle Young has few peers in this state at the wing forward position. This 6-7 wing forward can score in a assortment of ways. Shooting range is anywhere on the court. He gets to the rack with the best of them. Has a bag full of big time college offers. And was an instrumental player in helping King James get to the Nike Peach Jam. Will battle Wesson toe to toe for Mr. Basketball next year in Ohio. His Massillon Jackson High School team will be really good.
Derek Culver 6-9 from Warren G. Harding is one of the most talked about players in the State of Ohio. He plays AAU with OBC which doesn't play against any of the other top AAU programs in state. Everybody else in my Super six Juniors have been on court against each other. This kid can flat out jump and block shots. Solid rebounder for a lanky kid. Offensive skills are average. Dunks everything around the basket. I feel Wesson can out duel him in a head to head match-up. Culver is the target of many big-time schools.
Delonte Brown 6-7 from Toledo Bowsher is a super talent and can do a lot of multiple things on the basketball court. Is very athletic from the small forward position. Shooting range is solid out to the three point line. Needs to become a better defender to have that much length on the court. His recruiting has little bit of everyone licking their chops about what he could be down the road. With a sub-par EYBL. He needs to have a great summer. And he's capable of that.
B.J. Duling 6-7 forward from Newark High School had an exciting EYBL season as an individual. Gets up and down the court really well for a wing forward. His post-up game is real solid when he's motivated. He can get to the basket with the best of them. Gets on a roll with his three ball at times. Rebounding and Defense continues to improve. He's committed to Kent State. They definitely got a steal on this one.

All-Ohio Nike - SOPHOMORE REPORT
by Jerry Watson
Jerry Watson's Super Six Ohio Sophomores
The AAU season is alive and kicking in high gear. The sophomore class is supposed to be the next big-time class in Ohio. After watching this class very close during the month of April, I can see where all the hype is coming from.
1. Dane Goodwin 6-5 from Upper Arlington has hands down been the best player in the class. Before I give him all this credit. He's the son of a college coach. First of all he's a tough kid that doesn't back down to the highest level of competition. He can flat out shoot and knows when to shoot. He rebounds the ball extremely well for a wing guard. He's done this playing the best AAU schedule of any sophomores in the state. He's been Big Dawg Balling. Committed to Ohio State
2. Dwayne Cohill 6-1 from Parma Holy Name is a big-time combo guard who is head and shoulders above the rest of the sophomores in the state at his position. He very athletic with some exciting moves getting to the cup. His outside shot is getting better according to scouts in Northeast Ohio. College coaches in the Midwest will be in a recruiting derby to land this hot prospect.
3. Vince Williams 6-4 from Toledo St. Johns is a flat out winner with his approach to the game. No sophomore forward in the state goes harder than Mr. Vince Williams. His attack mode to the bucket is a beauty to watch. His transition finishes to the rim look like a high wire act. His understanding of how to operate in the half-court offense is ahead of Hunter and Bazley at this stage. Must continue to polish his perimeter skills for future growth.
4. Jerome Hunter 6-7 from Pickerington North is a flat out stud forward in the class. Hunter played his first real year of high basketball this year. When his game is dialed in at full throttle nobody does it better in the state. He had 34 points against King James a much respected in state opponent at Spiece over the weekend. Better understanding of the game and consistency are his areas of growth that must continue to get better. Word on the street is Hunter got an offer from Stony Brook University. That's where former Ohio State Assistant Jeff Boals took a head job.
5. Darius Bazley 6-7 from Cincinnati Finneytown has the biggest window of potential than anybody in the whole state. He does a little bit of everything right now. He immediately passes the look test the minute you lay your eyes on him. He's long and lanky with great athleticism. He scores and rebounds the ball pretty good. Hasn't fell in love with playing hard all the time. When he does watch out. Will be recruited by all the Big-Time Schools.
6. Justin Ahrens 6-4 from Versailles has been catching my attention here lately with his stellar play. If Dane Goodwin is good shooter number one, this kid is next in line. He was stroking the ball at Spiece this past weekend. Plus he's pretty athletic and definitely bares more watching. Not to mention his brother is already in the Big Ten, so the genes look pretty good.
Honorable Mention Sophomore List
Caleb McConnell 6-5 Dayton Dunbar
L' Christain (Blue) Smith 6-5 Huber Hts Wayne
Darius Quisenberry 6-0 Tecumseh
Xavier Johnson 6-1 Summit Country Day

All-Ohio Nike - OHIO FRESHMAN REPORT
by Jerry Watson
All-Ohio Nike Ohio Freshmen Player Report
The Freshman Class in Ohio is shaping up to be very interesting. The Prize catch will be Taylor Currie 6-9 from Worthington Christian who does something freaky every time out. At the Nike 15U session in Indy this past weekend he had an in traffic tip slam against E1T1 a Nationally ranked AAU program. Currie can also stick in jumpers from the perimeter.
When it comes to production in the freshmen class Amari Davis from Trotwood may be in a class by himself. He can score from anywhere on the court. And when he takes off in transition it looks like come fly with me. Amari will be a must for all big Ohio Colleges to land. His national stock is rising as you read this article.
Abba Lawal 6-11 from Walnut Hills is a defensive gem right now. He dunks everything close to the bucket and runs the court really good for a big kid. Offensive skills must get better to become dominant across the board.
Jordan Mitchell has been one of the most intriguing players in this class. His upside is really great. Not sure what his true position will end up being. He has been experiencing some play at the point. You are what you can guard. I don’t see him guarding that position right now. Bottom line he has an early offer from Ohio State and no one else in the class does. I would like to see him compete more against players in this class in state.
Jeremiah Francis hasn't played much this spring due to injuries. A strong body point guard who will be overpowering to most in this class. Has a mature understanding of how to run a team. Is really strong going downhill on most guards. Outside shot is still streaky and must prove he can guard elite point guards on the national scene.
Jeremiah Keene is a sweet combo guard who can really score the ball. His defense is coming on. His three ball is really lethal at times. Is a better scorer than a floor general at this stage in his game. He can run the point when needed. His penetration to the bucket is quick and wicked. He must cut down on the silly turnovers. The national scouts are taking notice. And so are the College Coaches.
