THAT'S WHAT'S UP by Jerry Watson
The All-Ohio Basketball Program has been recognized by college coaches and the media as one of the outstanding summer programs around the country. Former All-Ohio player Jared Sullinger signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Raptors. Terry Rozier is a key guard off the bench for the Boston Celtics. Caris Levert was taken in the first round of the NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets. The All-Ohio Basketball Program has had a player taken in the last 6 NBA drafts. The Program has 7 active players on NBA rosters for the 2016-2017 season. All-Ohio Red 2nd Grade team had a record of 52-5 and won several highly regarded tournaments. All-Ohio Red 4th Grade Team was a highly respected team in the Midwest. The All-Ohio Blue 4th Grade team beat the higher regarded Blue Chips this past Fall in Louisville. All-Ohio Red 5th Grade finished 3rd at the AAU National in Florida and ranked among the top 6 in the country. All-Ohio Red 6th Grade featured Paul McMillan, Jr, one of the highly regarded guards in the country by most scouting services. The All-Ohio Red 7th Grade team had several good prospects and played a national schedule across the country. The All-Ohio Red 8th Grade team was Top Twenty in the Midwest and had some major guards like Zeb Jackson and Josiah Fulcher. All-Ohio Red 9th Grade team was Top Six in the country by most publications. They won championships in 5 major tournaments, qualified for the Nike Elite Eight and were runner-up in the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando, Florida. They also featured several high major college prospects. The All-Ohio Red 10th Grade team won several major tournaments like the Nike Sweet Sixteen at the Peach Jam in Augusta, Georgia. They won the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando, Florida. They were undefeated in the month of July and finished ranked #3 in the country. All-Ohio Red Junior team was in the Nike EYBL League format. Kaleb Wesson, who committed to play at Ohio State, was the featured player on the team. He is also a leading candidate for Mr. Basketball in Ohio. Former All-Ohio player Keon Johnson of Winthrop University is one of the premier guards in college basketball. Former All-Ohio player Jae’Sean Tate, Ohio State, is considered one of the most competitive small forwards in college basketball as a Junior. Former All-Ohio player Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin, is on the Pre-Season Top Fifty John Wooden Watch List for college basketball’s most prestigious player. The All-Ohio Program has been the winningest AAU Program in the country with 10 national championships. Our Program has over 60 active players playing college basketball. Over 480 players who played in the All-Oho Basketball Program have received scholarships over the last 30 years. Our Program has featured the finest basketball events Ohio has to offer.
2017 All-Ohio Nike Grassroots Tournament
We are proud to announce the dates for the 22nd Annual All-Ohio Nike Grassroots Basketball Tournament have been set for Friday, March 24th hrough Sunday, March 27,2017 in Columbus, Ohio. The entry fee of $375.00 will be due in full between January 1, 2017, and March 10, 2017, to ensure your team’s participation. There are many good teams who want to attend. We will take the first twenty-four (24) teams paid in each age group. This tournament will feature top teams from across the country in each age group.
There will be eight grade groups for the boys division. There will be a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade division for the boys. This tournament will receive coverage from Jerry Watson All-Ohio, Prep Spotlite Magazine, Triple Double Prospects, Buzzer Beater, and Buckeye Prep Report.
All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games. We will use the pool play format with four teams per pool. There will be two 16-minute halves and a three-minute overtime period, if necessary, for the 6th Grade through 9th Grade. 2nd through 5th Grade will play two 14-minute halves. A player is allotted six fouls before he/she is eliminated. Each team has two time-outs per half.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to play for the championship. Trophies will be given to the first and second place teams in each age group. The outstanding player in each age group will receive an MVP award. There will be an All-Tournament team for each age group. There will be awards for each member of the first and second place team in each age group. We will have fancy tournament t-shirts for you to purchase.

2017 ALL-OHIO WINTER LEAGUE
Below please find the schedule and rosters of the Winter League. After this week please find the updated schedule and rosters in the "Leagues" section of our website under Winter League. The updated schedule and rosters will appear every Thursday by 9:00pm.
We are accepting applications for the All-Ohio Summer Basketball Program’s Nike Winter Basketball League.
This league is for boys in grades 2-8. The league will start January 28, 2017, and conclude with the playoffs on March 19, 2017.
There will be three divisions within the league. The Smurf Division is for grades 2-4. The Future Stars Division is for grades 5-6. The Unstoppable Division is for grades 7-8. There will be an ALL-OHIO BASKETBALL TRAINING ACADEMY 101 for kids ages 4 through 8 who have not previously played organized basketball. If you have a team that would like to play together, there will be a special team rate for those who sign up as a team.
We will use this league to look at prospects for our Nike AAU summer traveling teams that play around the country. This league will pick all-star teams for the Nike Grassroots Central Ohio Basketball Tournament to be held March 24-26, 2017.
The entry fee is $95.00. Each participant will receive a reversible game jersey. The first two weeks will be the instructional clinics on January 28 and February 4 from 9 am – 1 pm, and league play will start on February 11, 2017.
Once you have sent in your entry fee, you need to report to the Glenwood Rec Center, 1888 Fairmont Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43223, on January 28, 2017, for a mandatory meeting at 9:00 AM. If you are interested in coaching a team one night a week, please contact me, Jerry Watson.
The league will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any 7th or 8th grader who is in season with their school team is eligible to play in the winter league once their school season has ended.

Here are the players that will represent Columbus in the City Series, Battle of the Cities. There are still spots available in the 10th and 11th Grade. If you would like to participate call Devin Howard at 614-330-1678. You must play high school basketball and be from the Columbus Region. The games will be at Reynoldsburg Summit high school Saturday and Sunday. The schedule will be posted Thursday October 19th.

SLAM-N-JAM HOOP CHALLENGE
SLAM-N-JAM HOOP CHALLENGE
The All-Ohio Summer Basketball Program will hold its Annual All-Ohio Nike Slam-N-Jam Hoop Challenge. The Hoop Challenge is an event in which Ohio's top players (grades 4 through 12) are given a chance to showcase their talent in front of the nation's best basketball publications. There were over 300 players at the last Hoop Challenge. For young players in grades 7-10, this event gets your name in the hand of college coaches at the right time. This shootout will evaluate players for the All-Ohio AAU travel teams which play nationwide. When you look across the country at Ohio kids playing major college basketball, this event was a big part of their exposure.
The All-Ohio Program has direct connections with over 350 Division I college coaches nationwide. Every major college in the country checks in with the All-Ohio Program to see who the players are. Major colleges from the nation's top basketball conferences such as the Big Ten, PAC 12, Big 12, ACC, SEC, Mid-American, Horizon, Atlantic-10, American, and Conference USA will get the scouting report for this event. NCAA Division II and III schools and several NAIA schools will be there.
Some of the nation's top high school publications from around the country will be in attendance. We will also turn in our list of recommendations for the 2018 All-Star Invitational Camps. This event will get your name in all the major scouting reports that college coaches respect. John Stovall from Prep Spotlite Magazine and ESPN-U will be the event’s official scouting service. This event will also receive coverage from Hoop Scoop Magazine and Buckeye Prep Report. This great event will take place Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with player registration at 9:00 a.m. at: Reynoldsburg Summit Campus.

Several other major scouting services from surrounding states have also been invited to attend. This is an excellent opportunity for NCAA Division II and III schools to see your players. Over one hundred Division I college coaches will purchase a special scouting report for this event.
All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three (3) games. We will use pool play format with four (4) teams per pool. The top two (2) teams from each pool will advance to play for the championship. The bottom two teams from each pool will play for the Silver Bracket Championship There will be two (2) 20-minute halves, and the clock will stop the last three (3) minutes of each half. On the tenth foul of each half, the player will shoot two (2) free throws. Each player will foul out on the sixth foul. Each team has two (2) time-outs per half.
Trophies will be given to the first and second place teams. There will be an MVP award for the outstanding player in the championship game. Plus, we will have an All-Tournament team.
